AI is accelerating the gap

The distance between what finance organizations are expected to deliver and how decisions actually move is widening.

Archived post, published 18 March 2026. Reproduced as written.

It's been a full start to the year.

Time with family. New places across the U.S. Good conversations with friends and colleagues.

And a lot of time thinking about where finance is actually going.

One thing has become clear.

The gap between what finance organizations are expected to deliver and how decisions actually move is widening.

AI is accelerating that gap, not closing it.

Used well, it compresses design, build, and decision cycles in ways that weren't possible even a year ago. Applied poorly, it simply adds another layer on top of already fragmented processes.

That's why the real shift is not just AI adoption.

It's redesigning how finance decisions are structured and move across the organization.

Systems should support that flow. Not define it.

When that changes, finance can absorb complexity, maintain trust, and operate at speed.

That idea sits at the center of Harmony Unleashed™, and it's where most of my recent work has been focused.

We've also seen strong interest from leadership teams in the AI application built on these principles, and have started making it more accessible.

Curious how others are thinking about this going into 2026. Where does your current finance model slow decisions the most?
